It seems like 40 is the new 16, at least when it comes to throwing over-the-top parties for reaching the milestone birthday. Each episode features different people turning 40 and showcases the preparations that goes into the lavish bash to commemorate their biological clock ticking over from 39 to 40; the episode also includes highlights of the actual celebration. Opulent venues, priceless gowns and custom cakes are often part of what make the festivities unique. Some people want to make the occasion about more than just their birthdays, including a single mother who hopes her longtime boyfriend will ask her to marry him, and a married entrepreneur who wants to renew her vows with her husband.
