What to Know

Critics Consensus

In its second outing, Nobody Wants This' sharp humor and warmly chaotic ensemble keep it an engaging and emotionally observant rom-com that still charms even as it stumbles.

It really is funny, if in a low-key way. Go to Full Review

[Adam Brody and Kristen Bell have] both done other shows where they've done kind of fun back-and-forth dialogue. And that part of it worked really well here for me. But that's because I am a romcom person, and I am a sucker for a banter scene. Go to Full Review

It’s funny, heartfelt, and real, blending rom-com-dreamy romance with palpable stakes. Go to Full Review

While its bright colour palette and soundtrack, oversaturated with pop tracks, package this show as an easily digestible romcom, the script’s thoughtful exploration of relationships makes for some genuinely affecting moments. Go to Full Review

It’s a wonderful mix of sharp dialogue, endearing characters, and thoughtful humor. I just wish the show would let them hang out more. Go to Full Review

K L @KaleyLStuart Jan 22 New show runners Kaplan and Konner sucked all the heart and hope out of this show. Erin Foster should have had Season 2 written and in her back pocket before handing off her work to new co-writers and show runners - Mistake. Kaplan and Konner worked on Girls -which is why NWT now feels like destructive immature conflicts haunt every turn and every character has become suddenly vapid and mindless. Season 2 pulls off the amazing feat of forcing nearly every character to do a 180 degree character arc while achieving absolutely no plot growth. If they get a Season 3, Im not watching if Kaplan and Konner are at the helm. Way to plummet a series guys. The show became humourless and grating, and each character somehow miserable and unlikable. It went from being life-affirming to depressing. See more Sergio A @Sergio83 Jan 11 It shows a clear improvement in the development of the characters compared to the previous installment, and the chemistry between the protagonists feels stronger and more natural. For these reasons, this second part is definitely worth watching. See more David F @dfulmer Dec 30 A wonderful romantic comedy set in Los Angeles, the second season is just as satisfying as the first. See more Samuel F @ballard-bird-dog Dec 14 Nothing happens in this season. It's actually remarkable. See more Ryan K @ryan_k1 Dec 1 Fun romantic comedy that is slightly worse than the first season. In season one of Nobody Wants This, the show places various obstacles in the way of the two leads that make their future relationship seem unlikely. Now that they are together, the second season focuses on the ways the pair differ from each other suggesting that they may be too different for this relationship to work. The writing is still as good as the first season, but several relationships fall apart this season and one is rekindled seemingly without much reason. The best part of the show is still the chemistry between the leads, and I think that alone makes season two of Nobody Wants This worth watching. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Nov 26 Season two of Nobody Wants This arrives with the same star power and comedic potential that made the first season such a standout, especially with Adam Brody and Kristen Bell’s undeniable chemistry. Their dynamic remains one of the strongest elements of the series, and it’s clear that the show still has plenty of potential. However, this season doesn’t quite recapture the spark, creativity, and sharp comedic timing that defined its debut. Instead of feeling naturally engaging, season two often feels forced, as though the show is trying to push viewers into enjoyment rather than earning it organically. One of the biggest shifts this season is the overall tone. Where season one excelled in balancing humor with heart, this season leans more heavily into drama, and not in a way that enhances the story. The writing frequently drifts into whining and emotional heaviness, losing the playful rhythm that fans loved. Moments that should feel snappy or biting instead land softly, leaving scenes that used to sparkle feeling muted. The show still has its comedic bones, but they aren’t used nearly enough this time around. The banter between the mother and her future daughter-in-law, one of the show’s strongest comedic engines, is also noticeably weaker this season. It’s still present, but not with the same sharp energy or consistency that made their dynamic so entertaining. Instead of constant jabs layered with love, we get scattered moments that don’t fully deliver. The tension and humor that once defined their relationship feel like they’re settling instead of escalating—which is the opposite of what this duo needs. The season’s ending also dips into familiar territory, revisiting the break-up-and-get-back-together cycle that already played a major role in season one. Rather than feeling dramatic or earned, it comes across as repetitive and predictable. Audiences expecting a fresh direction may feel frustrated watching the show circle back to the same emotional beats, especially when the first season already covered that ground successfully. Morgan’s character also suffers significantly this season. Instead of being portrayed as a layered, funny, lovable personality, she’s written as someone desperate and impulsive—jumping into major decisions without thought and being treated as though she lacks intelligence or self-worth. It’s a disservice to both the character and the talented actress playing her. Morgan deserves more dimension, not to be reduced to a caricature of naivety for convenience or filler conflict. Overall, Nobody Wants This season two still has its charms thanks to its cast, but the writing falters under tonal inconsistency, repetitive storytelling, and weakened character development. While the potential for greatness remains, especially with a cast this strong, season two loses much of the comedic sharpness that made the first season such a treat. I truly hope that season three rises to the challenge—bringing back the wit, humor, and lovable chaos that originally made this show stand out. See more Read all reviews
