What to Know

Critics Consensus

Genuinely original science-fiction fare from television veteran Vince Gilligan, Pluribus leads Rhea Seehorn through a brave new world with plentiful returns.

Audience Says

Sometimes falling short of its high-concept promise, Pluribus is a supremely original entry from Vince Gilligan whose trademark cinematography remains employed as part of the ensemble.

The cinematography is just utterly fantastic. There are so many scenes in this that I just think are captivating. Go to Full Review

Rhea Seehorn’s brilliant tour de force as a lone resistor to hive mentality makes this potent provocation from Vince Gilligan one you don’t want to miss. Go to Full Review

A high concept to rival a chemistry teacher getting into meth-making to pay his medical bills or a con artist who transforms into a morally challenged criminal lawyer, Vince Gilligan’s latest is likely to have you hooked from the opening scenes. Go to Full Review
Bethan Ackerley New Scientist Feb 8
The most promising thing, beyond Seehorn’s powerhouse performance, is that Pluribus is unapologetically character-driven, the kind of show that devotes half an episode to someone trying to bury a body. Go to Full Review

What makes Pluribus compelling as weekly storytelling is that by having such an unpleasant, yet still sympathetic, character at its center, we can see how Carol is her own worst enemy. Go to Full Review

markb401 T. @RT04465921 3d I don't think I can remember a show with such a high pedigree of talent involved and such high production values that was this disappointing. By episode 3 I realized I was really not enjoying it at all and it was becoming almost a punishment to sit through. The central character is just so unlikeable, I can't be compelled by a character so miserable, joyless and angry. The pilot episode is intriguing but then it becomes very dull and plods along without any signs of intrigue or mystery to it. The sound design is also absolutely awful, I find it absolutely grating to listen to this show, some very weird choices here-- people chewing and gulping, phones and alarms blaring, and an awful percussive score. After being introduced to another unlikeable character grossly licking can lids and slurping on gel packs, I realized I had had more than enough and shut it off for good. Sorry Vince and Rhea, just not what I needed, a rare miss. See more Tim R @RT83483413 3d This had potential but when nothing actually occurs....Vince Gilligan is a master at drawing out scenes where nothing happens, just as filler. It was boring from beginning to end, with very few exceptions. I was hoping for much better but in the end, they could have told this story in half the episodes with no reduction of quality. In fact, less would have been better. If I wanted to watch grass grow I would go outside See more Apple S @RT27050751 Apr 9 Fantastic! Loved it! I rarely watch TV shows. I'm very hard to please. But I really connected with this one The idea felt so metaphorical in so many ways. At first I saw it as capitalism vs socialism & the individual vs the communal. Then I saw it as the way we see others vs ourselves & how we imagine others to be perfect & happy while we see ourselves as flawed. Then I imagined how this could reflect how we might interact with AI in the future or a race of upgraded cyborg humans vs humans who choose to remain "pure". & then there were the religious overtones, how the "others" perhaps reflect how God see's us & wants to help us but respects our free will above all It was so fascinating to see Carol wrestling with the atrocity of these "others" forcing themselves into the bodies of people, whilst also being incredibly virtuous in many other ways. To see her pulled around by temptation. The actresses who played Carol and Zosia were so admirable. Perfect casting. & I loved Manousos! See more Jason M. @Nautius Apr 4 Very original story. Not sure why there are so many hate-bots review bombing this show. Rhea Seehorn plays a perfect introvert opposite of a hive mind. There are some really funny dry humor moments. But overall, this drama has a great premise and I look forward to season 2. See more Koogz K @Johnny625 Apr 4 They really do make her an angry, selfish, narcissistic, self-centered jerk for the first several episodes, and I find it difficult to stomach how utterly cruel she is. People are literally dying by the millions when she throws a tantrum and attacks one of the 'hive'... all they have ever done for her is give and be thoughtful even if it is creepy. She's just so special, like every American (USA) person is... See more Ahxel T @ahxel Mar 31 Without spoiling anything, what I like about it is how it gives way for us to compare an advanced "Other" to us human beings, who are also advanced in our own regard. It’s not for people who don’t appreciate slow burn. Not for people who don’t like heady concepts. Personally, I really liked it. I can nitpick on some faults but overall I give it a thumbs up. I wanna say it’s great. It kinda is. See more Read all reviews
