Critic reviews for Sundowner
Preacher has always been a heck of a thing to look at. The issue is what lies beneath, or more accurately what doesn't.

While "Sundowner" doesn't completely solve the issues Preacher has had so far, it at least manages to replicate the exciting highs of the first two episodes, and has some fine character scenes, to boot.

It seems that Eugene, like the viewer, will now be thrust into the much bigger battle that lie at the center of Preacher, a battle that promises to be as zany and captivating as this supremely impressive show thus far.
The best episode of Preacher to date.
"Sundowner" may have been divided down the middle, but it still managed to factor in several little details that help make the series distinctive and consistently enjoyable, despite its faults.
While this episode of Preacher couldn't keep up the pace after that amazing, extended opening act, that material alone made this episode one of the best yet.
