Surgeon Alex Reid finds herself in a state of shock when her charismatic fiance -- Chief of Surgery Charlie Harris -- ends up in a coma. While she and a surgeon who has just arrived at Toronto's Hope-Zion Hospital work to save Dr. Harris' life, the patient takes leave of his body and begins wandering the hospital in spirit form. Harris ponders the true nature of his experience, while the other doctors in the facility continue to deal with complicated decisions that they face daily within their profession.

Lee T 12/04/2022 Loved the show through most of season 3 into 4. Much of season 4 and now so far all of season 5 I find very poorly written. They destroy the integrity of Alex's character completely. She comes off as a reckless and disloyal again and again. She supposedly pushed Charlie away because he was too, what, dangerous for her and Luke?, after repeatedly professing her undying love. He asked her to marry him end of season 4. She says no then suddenly at the beginning of season 5 she kicks him out? WTF. Then she, as a now single mom, starts riding a motorcycle to work because that's not dangerous for her (and her kid indirectly) if she has an accident. And has unprotected sex with her new boyfriend. So who is the dangerous one? She then starts to just be a bitch to her friends and co workers except the new doc she just has to have sex with. She lies, breaks rules etc. I loved her character all this time and now I cannot stand her at all. Forwarding through a lot of her cringy scenes. I now like almost every other character except her and it feels like the show is ruined and I am just watching to see how bad the end of the story is. They took a good show and destroyed it with really bad ridiculous writing. And BTW, I like Erica as an actress, just despise her role now. I see she produced a good bit of this season so I wonder how much she was involved or approved of the general character arc for Alex. Hoping not too much, or it would lower my opinion of her a good deal. Very sad at the way this show turned out. Took a character I really liked and now I can't stand her. And, with the exception of Joel in the first few seasons, is it me or are most of the men pretty reliable and committed in their relationships, and it's many of the women who constantly fool around on their partners or just outright ditch them when someone better comes along? At least they are not bashing men and showing a more accurate picture of the way North American (Canadian & US) women from that generation are actually behaving out there. See more Read all reviews
