Sometimes, The Affair is action-packed. Sometimes. Most of the time, well, we have weeks like this, where the actors get a real chance to shine - Dominic West, in particular, is a standout.
If he is fundamentally a good man struggling with unsavory impulses, I find [Noah] to be redeemable on some level and worth investing in. In raising that question, The Affair took a big step towards retaining my emotional investment.
While The Affair Season 2 Episode 10 could have been slow given that Noah's half of the hour took place in a one-on-one therapy session, overall it was surprisingly tight and full of points to think about.
For many fans of The Affair, this is the episode we've all been anticipating: The appearance of Cynthia Nixon as Noah and Alison's therapist, Marilyn Sanders.
Like the best episodes of In Treatment, [The Affair] was intelligent, fairly engrossing - within the limits of Noah's worldview - and a showcase for two fine actors, Dominic West and a guest star, Cynthia Nixon.
