What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Chevy Chase Show is a late night dud that even insomniacs will want to skip, hobbled by lame jokes, an unprepared lack of structure, and a nervous host who appears uncomfortable before a live audience.

The program -- a flop-sweat fest, if ever there was one -- was so pathetic that Chase was reduced to making lame jokes about his own demise. And no one was laughing. Go to Full Review

It was terrible. Despite his hours of TV time and (usually) masterful comic timing, Chase never looked anything resembling comfortable. Go to Full Review

Viewers may recall a vomit scene in the premiere: a pitch-perfect comment on the show itself. Go to Full Review

By the end of the hour, it was starting to stink. We're talking dud here, a painful-to-watch disaster of epic proportions. Go to Full Review

Daniel D 09/15/2022 This show was worse than bad. It was unwatchable. Chevy Chase had no business hosting a talk show. That wasn't his strength. He wasn't a comedian in the traditional sense. He wasn't an interviewer either. He was a comic actor, and he had serious problems with cocaine and prescription drugs...perhaps even during the time he was making this show. It would explain a lot.
