When machines can create anything, where does that leave the humans who built the machines? That tonal whiplash could easily fall apart in lesser hands. Here, it works, because the show never loses the philosophical thread underneath the spectacle. Go to Full Review

Science SARU achieves something very difficult: honoring the legacy of The Ghost in the Shell while crafting an adaptation with an identity of its own. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Ghost in the Shell continues to subvert expectations even now, 37 years after Shirow first put pen to paper, but that's incredibly fitting for a franchise long defined by change. Go to Full Review

The remake has that charming 90s anime feel, and it has also perfectly captured Shirow's style, from the character designs to the setting and the type of technology they use. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Its sweeping animation sequences are a visual treat, its whimsically expressive character work is delightfully charming, and its operatic soundtrack punctuates every death-defying action scene with absolute sonic finesse. Go to Full Review

Austin R @austinrian 1d Gorgeously animated, The Ghost In The Shell gets the source material back on track after several movie and tv hiccups. See more Ryan Y @McGomez 5d Shockingly unwatchable and almost certainly 100% AI. I read these reviews saying animation was manga accurate…of course I’ve seen all the anime versions only, so I checked some pages and characters of the manga to see if it also looked this bad. It doesn’t, in fact the manga is very good. It is sheer fantasy that this is manga accurate. It looks exclusively produced from AI trained on Ghibli and Pokemon wildly shifting between animation styles. Long segments of inappropriate still frames anyway, like they couldn't even afford enough tokens. Story delivery, musical choices, character expressions might as well have been made by aliens. And this is in the first 5 minutes, talk about a first impression! A complete and utter sham. See more Tanisha H @maroonalys Aug 10 The animation is outstanding (wouldn’t expect anything less from Science Saru) but the plot and dialogue move a mile a minute. It’s like at the pace of Gilmore Girls, but if the dialogue was all philosophical discussions about robotics and humanity. Constantly rewinding to not miss anything, but thought-provoking if anything else. See more Cameron L @RT86048336 Aug 5 I'm not going to dismiss anyone else's preferences but this is a good show. Insisting something that's faithful to the manga shouldn't exist because of a later movie is unhinged. If it's not for you it's not for you. Hope they make more. See more Krystal G @Krystal643 Jul 29 Really liking this adaptation, it has lighter moments than previous adaptations. See more Chauncy B @RT89030664 Jul 27 I hear the people saying it's more aligned with the original manga, but those arguments are missing the point. There are pieces of media that transcend the source material and ghost in the shell is one of them. Like it or not, the Oshii/Kamiyama vision for the franchise is what it has become. This show is like someone taking The Boys and making it into a kids show. It's a huge disappointment, especially after the SAC 2045 (minor) disappointment. Can no one make serious + good sci-fi anime anymore? See more Read all reviews
