Isabel T 07/19/2023 William Shatner is a terrific narrator. Content is interesting and engaging See more Phillip N 05/20/2023 It's a mixed bag. I like William Shatner and I like the types of subject matter covered in the show. What I expect, however, is objectivity, and unfortunately this show lacks that, as is the case with most of the programs about this sort of material. The program deliberately words things in a way to make it sound more compelling than it actually is. For example let's say there's an episode about people using the power of their mind to fly like Superman. That's clearly ridiculous but if five people on Earth (out of eight-billon) believed it was possible, the show would say something like "Can humans really soar through the skies with only the power of the mind? There are those that say the answer is 'yes.'" It's hard to take it seriously or to respect it. See more the s @The_Stranger 06/01/2021 Honestly, the stories and presentation are great. Shatner adds a compelling sense to it all. The episodes each addresss a different interesting topic about unexplained phenomena. The part that takes a solid star and a half off the rating is the absolutely insufferable guest "experts" who end up being the typical kind of professional blowhards who do this for a living somehow by fleecing enough people to convince they have some kind of knowledge. Without doubt, their blathering is the part that makes the series difficult to get through at times. For example, they have an aerospace engineer (supposedly) but they have him commenting on issues about death and life and neuroscience...issues he knows nothing about. But that doesn't stop him from prattling on about it all as if he has a PhD in biological neuroscience. And the same can be said about the other "experts" the show uses, people who are more adept at selling themselves to tv series than explaining basic concepts about actual science. Take the ‘investigative journalist' for example who has zero real credentials going on about survival and instinct. Oh, really? The guy shares some worthless anecdotes and says exactly what you'd expect someone to say about subjects they have zero knowledge of and then they set back, very proud of themselves for talking about something for minutes at a time without saying a single valuable thing or adding to the investigation. Remove the so-called "expert" personalities, replace their useless anecdotes and hollow stories with actual experts who have credentials to discuss physiology, physiology, nature, genetics, science, etc and this would be a very solid series. As it stands, fast forward through the hyper dramatic talking heads and just enjoy the stories themselves without the useless blather. See more Read all reviews
