Joe Sample brought his musical talents to a variety of films over the course of his Hollywood career. His music also appeared on the television show "Code Name: Foxfire" (NBC, 1984-85). Though known first for his music, Sample also acted in "Newport Jazz '87" (PBS, 1987-88) and "Melrose Place" (Fox, 1991-98). In the nineties, Sample's music mostly appeared in films like the Edward James Olmos sports drama "Talent for the Game" (1991), the Geena Davis adventurous drama "Thelma & Louise" (1991) and "The Favor" (1994) with Harley Jane Kozak. His work was also in the dramatic adaptation "The Chamber" (1996) with Chris O'Donnell and "Deceiver" (1998). Sample also composed music for the dramatic adaptation "Freedom Writers" (2007) with Hilary Swank, "Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay" (2008) and the Channing Tatum crime flick "Fighting" (2009). His music was also featured in the documentary "Soul Power" (2009) with Muhammad Ali. In addition to his music, Sample also appeared on-screen in "George Benson: Absolutely Live" (PBS, 2000-01). Sample most recently voiced characters in "Ever After High: Spring Unsprung" (2014-15).
