Marquita Robinson worked odd jobs behind the scenes of various comedy shows before joining the full-time writing teams of "Survivor's Remorse" (Starz, 2014-) and "New Girl" (Fox, 2011-). Born into an Air Force family, Robinson grew up on various bases across the world including New York, Japan and Portugal before settling in Oklahoma City. While studying at Washington and Lee University, Robinson honed her comedic talents, writing, producing and performing for the school's first sketch comedy troupe and working with playwright Lucy Thurber as the director of "Where We're Born." After graduating, Robinson gained a place on the USC School of Cinematic Arts' Peter Stark Producing Program and interned at a number of film and TV studios, with early credits including a writing role on culture clash short "The Sweetest Part" (2013), a showrunner's assistant and social media manager position on "Black-ish" (ABC, 2014) and researcher stint on "@midnight" (Comedy Central, 2013-). Having suffered the disappointment of working on two short-lived TV dramas "Lucky 7" (ABC, 2013) and "American Odyssey" (NBC, 2015), Robinson then got the chance to showcase her talents on more established shows when she was hired to join the writing staff of both basketball dramedy "Survivor's Remorse" (Starz, 2014-) and Zooey Deschanel vehicle "New Girl" (Fox, 2011-).
