Field hockey player Paige Selenski rose from a stellar collegiate career to compete for the U.S. Women's team at the Olympics in 2012 and 2016. Born June 30, 1990 in Kingston, Pennsylvania, she established her presence on the collegiate field hockey scene as a freshman at the University of Virginia; there, she was named Rookie of the Year and Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman (ACC) of the Year in 2008, and was named to the U.S. Women's National Team the following year. By 2010, Selenski had been twice named to National College Athletic Association (NCAA) All-Tournament teams and led the state in scoring for three consecutive years. She led the University of Virginia in her senior year to train full-time with the national team, which traveled to London in 2012 to compete in the Summer Olympics. Though the women's team scored 12th in the final ranking, Selenski and the U.S. Team won gold in numerous world championship tournaments between 2013 and 2015, including the World League in Rio, the Champions Challenge in Glasgow, Scotland and the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, before heading to Rio again for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
