Unlike the majority of supergroups, Pistol Annies - singer/songwriters Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, and Angaleena Presley - proved to have a surprising amount of staying power. The first fruit of their union was the 2011 album Hell on Heels, which was true to the neo-outlaw nature of Lambert's aesthetic. The album took Nashville by storm, going Gold and hitting the top spot on the country charts as well as making No. 5 on the pop charts. While Pistol Annies' first batch of performances came as a part of Lambert's solo concerts in 2011, it wasn't long before the trio went out on a string of headlining dates. The group's success boosted Monroe's profile, and she got a solo deal with Warner Nashville, which released her album Like a Rose in 2013. Meanwhile, Pistol Annies proved they were more than a one-shot deal by releasing their second album, Annie Up, in 2013. The record once again leaped to the upper rungs of both the country and pop charts, and the single "Hush Hush" became a minor hit. That same year, the Annies were involved in one of the biggest country songs of the year, singing on Blake Shelton's double Platinum single "Boys 'Round Here." After Annie Up, Lambert, Monroe, and Presley all had to tend to their solo careers for a while, each releasing their own albums. But five years later they renconvened, releasing the third Pistol Annies album, Interstate Gospel, which quickly became a No. 1 country record and birthed the single "Got My Name Changed Back."
