The Flash (2023) Vinamra Mathur Despite having fun throughout, The Flashisn't flawless, especially in its final act. But Miller as the eponymous superhero is clearly having fun, and so are the other key characters that wouldn't think twice.

About My Father (2023) Vinamra Mathur Just like how it happens here, even Hollywood doesn’t mind revisiting mundane tropes only to have some fun. The film may not be original and refreshing, but Robert De Niro is as he calls himself in the film. He’s the father of all, as the title says.

Sisu (2022) Vinamra Mathur The film is only 93 minutes long but every 15 minutes takes us to a new chapter. What catches your eye is the spectacular cinematography by Kjell Lagerroos. The film also enjoys being barbaric and brutal, it makes bloodshed looks beautiful.

Ponniyin Selvan: Part II (2023) Vinamra Mathur Part one was just a set-up, and all the unconnected threads and loose ends could be answered in part two, that’s the expectation and anticipation for this opus. And they are answered and connected, most compellingly.

U-Turn (2023) Vinamra Mathur There’s a twist you won't see coming, but by that time, the remake has missed the bus. It fails to reach its destination; maybe it took that very U-Turn that made the makers make this film.

The Pope's Exorcist (2023) Vinamra Mathur Director Julius Avery uses every horror genre cliché and tropes to create an eerie and atmospheric mood, but it all ends up being more cacophonous than chilling.

Farrey (2023) Vinamra Mathur The idea feels interesting and the credit for that goes to Abhishek Yadav and Soumendra Padhi. Salman Khan is the co-producer of Farrey, and it shows he can genuinely surprise us with his choices of films, even if it comes sans acting in them.

Veetla Vishesham (2022) Ashameera Aiyappan Veetla Vishesham is not a frame-by-frame replica of the Bollywood hit Badhaai Ho. Sure, the film retains a lot -- scenes, and even a few shots. But a lot has been changed too; even what the film has retained feels very different from Badhaai Ho.

August 16 1947 (2023) Vinamra Mathur Murugadoss’ films, even the ones wholly underwhelming, have had some moments of pathos and genuine thrill, even Darbar and Spyder. August 16 1947, I’m afraid, is devoid of tension and thrill.
