The Hunting Party is tonally awkward: its shifts from dark satire to serious political thriller create an uneven film, despite best efforts from its game leads. Read critic reviews

Jan 29, 2019The movie is quite good and balances the darkness with a unique style of filmmaking. This has to be one of the better Richard Gere films I have seen in quite some time. He is a gifted actor and most of the material he surrounds with is beneath him, this is one of the best roles. Gere, Howard and Eisenberg are an incredible team and once the story kicks into high gear, its hard to take your eyes away from the screen. The film might struggle with its execution, but it is a very good film for a topic that went unnoticed by the general first world public. It is true with the UN and USA about their lack of motivation to capture these war criminals. Osama Bin Laden had the heat of the world on their backs, but with Sarajevo it was a very different story. On face value it looks like an effort, but at the core they really didn't hunt these people down. Heartbreaking storyline and anchored by truth. 29/01/2019.Brendan N Super Reviewer

Mar 27, 2015The actors seem to be having a lot of fun and the dialogue is mostly very funny, but it is really hard to buy into most of this ludicrous "based in real events" plot that has a major revenge cliché as motivation for the main character and is a tonal mess in its stupid third act.Carlos M Super Reviewer

Nov 29, 2011Part of me wants to really like "The Hunting Party" and then part of me wants to dismiss it as the forgettable result of a lazy script. Personally, I think it's sort of a mixture of the two. Good chemistry between Richard Gere, Terrence Howard and Jesse Eisenberg and some clever scenarios give it the same kind of enjoyable 'feel' that Richard Shepard's "The Matador" has, but then it has areas that lag and feel uninspired and it closes on a hurried note. I won't say that I didn't find "The Hunting Party" fun and, at times, original, but it isn't nearly as ambitious as it could have been. Shepard should release a director's cut that tacks on about twenty minutes.

Sep 05, 2010This is a very well done, really exciting movie. I am starting to search out anything with Richard Gere in it, anymore. He doesn't do a ton of movies, but what he does do always proves to be of really good qualityCynthia S Super Reviewer
