The film misses Burton's odd charm, is largely devoid of humour and, in spite of Hathaway, Depp and Bonham Carter, is mostly a waste of time.

As bad as the 2010 film is this is even worse.
April 2, 2019
It's a soulless, cynical cash grab - nothing more.

Despite a talented cast and some incredibly rich source material, Alice Through the Looking Glass is little more than an ill-conceived and empty bauble, a candy-coated turd attempting (and failing) to pass as a delicious treat.

Another disappointing example of stunning visual design doing everything it can to mask a film without the narrative and characters to back it up.

For a movie based on time they definitely didn't use their time well in this lackluster second installment.

I don't hate Alice Through the Looking Glass. I don't even question why it exists ... I'm just kind of saddened that this is what's deemed acceptable.

This Looking Glass is a bit prosaic in its narrative, but it's so exhilarating to look at that, in the end, it's a fair balance.

The actors are wasted. The impressive visuals are wasted. The potential for adventure in Wonderland is wasted. The film may not be a failure, but it is a waste.

All in all, the film was a bit confusing and overly frenetic at times, but still highly entertaining.

Once I gave up on pointing out differences from the book, I enjoyed it, but houses that look like top hats, a table amid fiddlehead ferns and toadstools set with elaborate sweets, and really fabulous costumes can really count for a lot for me.

I found Depp's Mad Hatter to be creepy and puerile rather than compelling and sympathetic. The whole plot, for that matter, is quite juvenile, void of much interest for adults.

A rather ineffective followup to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland...

Carroll's works are susceptible to so many interpretations that intelligent filmmakers, one would think, need only reach into the bag of possibilities
and choose those to generate a successful cinematic result. But reality has proved the opposite.

There is no spark, no soul, no life, but rather a whole lot of pretty things happening on the screen that wholly fail to resonate on any meaningful level

If Alice Through the Looking-Glass has a saving grace, it's the message that women are as capable as men. But the original novels and the lovely star deserve a much better movie.
November 7, 2017
When compared to Burton's work, this one pales in comparison. If you haven't seen his film, you are bound to find this wondrous, a journey worth taking for sure.
October 31, 2017
The 3D, the sense of adventure and the striking visuals are all just frills trying to hard sell and underwhelming story.
September 12, 2017
In the end, Alice Through the Looking Glass never descends into the black pit of the truly horrific; instead, it simply fades from memory.

In the correct hands, Alice 2 could have been a sugar-spun confection sailing effortlessly on wordplay and visual invention. Instead, it's a shipwreck
