Shot with handheld digital cameras inside the monastery, the film elicits rich aesthetic and ethical questions about cinema's capacity to see what is typically unseen, to invite us to witness worlds beyond our experience. Go to Full Review

05/30/2018 Chosen: Custody of the Eyes is a fantastic documentary about the cloistered nuns in Rockford, IL. It follows the path of a young woman who decides to be a nun, and the process she goes through to be indoctrinated into the culture. Abbie Reese very thoughtfully edited the film so you would feel like you were with the young nun on her journey, and get to experience a bit of what it's like behind the "enclosure". At times frustrating and other times meditative, Chosen will give you a look into a world you wouldn't be able to experience otherwise. Highly recommended! See more Read all reviews
