This coming-of-age film follows the mayhem of a group of rowdy teenagers in Austin, Texas, celebrating the last day of high school in 1976. The graduating class heads for a popular pool hall and joins an impromptu keg party, however star football player Randall Pink Floyd has promised to focus on the championship game and abstain from partying. Meanwhile, the incoming freshmen try to avoid being hazed by the seniors, most notably the sadistic bully Fred O'Bannion.

IRL, I would've been one of the incoming freshmen in the year this movie is set. This movie, with no close competitors, is the most closely relatable to being a teenager in that period of time.....with the exception of the paddles. That was not a thing where I grew up. This movie boasts the best soundtrack, bar none, although, I say ditch the Dylan song and replace it with ANY Bad Company song....they did just fine, even though Robert Plant wouldn't agree to letting them put "Rock & Roll" in. To critics of this film, lighten your ass up. If you weren't there, you wouldn't understand; and not a chance in hell I'd rather have grown up in your lame af time than mine. This movie is a step back in time to some very fun times, when the music was sooooo much better.

Having been a teenager in the early 90s this film seems so very familiar to me, even though its set almost 20 years earlier. It had the same vibe as my youth, just driving around on a Friday night, with nothing to do and nowhere to go, just chilling with friends, listening to music and drinking beers. I think Tarantino said it best, its the ultimate "Hang out" movie. Enjoy your youth kids, it will be gone before you know it!
