The clunking storyline is a real drag, and the movie is essentially hobbled because the nominal lead is a rock performer not a martial artist.

If fireball had an idealistic, Jimmy Hill-style commentator, he'd describe this film as a poor advertisement for the game.

The plot is a pretext for nonstop, bone-crushing mayhem of a mind-numbing kind.

The few women in the cast look aghast at what is going on.

While the title refers to a rather outrageous game that mixes kickboxing with basketball, this is actually a routine gangland thriller. And it's directed in a style that prevents us from understanding the action or caring about the characters.

This mostly routine Thai actioner mixes sports movie clichés, martial arts moves, melodramatic excess and gangster claptrap in the kind of movie Van Damme made in the '80s.

Audience Reviews for Fireball (Muay Thai Dunk)

Good Thai underground sport-action film. The action scenes are fantastic, not to mention bloody. People are impaled, bones are broken, flying kicks and punches are traded. That out of the way, while the acting is fine, the movie falters in the fact that there is little is any real characterization going on in the film. Without anybody to care about, many of the scenes in which there isn't anything action or maybe even sex related feel too long, not to mention kind of boring.

Turn off your brain and enjoy the bone-crunching madness. People who find basketball boring may enjoy this version a bit more.

From the producers of BANGKOK DANGEROUS (the original), TEARS OF THE BLACK TIGER and BANG RAJAN comes a gritty new action film from Thailand that attempts to bring the fierce fighting art of Muay Thai together with basketball... Brutal... Absolutely brutal. www (.^_^.)
