I adored this movie as kid, and it started a life long love for Robin Williams. My parents told me taking me to see this film in the theaters, they had never before seen me laugh so much. Watching it now, it's mostly slapstick and general silliness, a whole lot of silliness with goofy visuals and people getting smacked around. And godamn…it still kind of makes me chuckle. Does it get me the way it did when I was a kid? No, but I still like it. Yes it's dumb, and a big part of the appeal is nostalgia, but I can't help it. It is objectively not a great film. The love interest is flawed, the writing is expositional as hell, there's lots of pointless filler, and they kill a comic relief character for no godamn reason (spoilers I guess?). But I didn't mind then (except that death), and I don't really mind now. It's a dumb silly movie that made me laugh like hell as a kid and still gives me chuckles now.

Flubber is another tired Robin Williams high concept vehicle. The issue Disney had at the time of this release was the reliance of comedic actors with films that didn't suit their comedic range. Flubber is a film that is clearly aimed at children but offers little to the adult audience. Robin Williams is well suited to the role and he gives the film everything and is one of the few redeeming parts of the film. The issue I had was the filmmakers reliance on slapstick and very flat villains. Disney was guilty of coasting during this period and they delivered over the top vehicles that aren't worth recommending to anyone. Flubber offers some visual interest but in the end it's a tired and little substance film. 20/07/2020

I've recently watched this movie when I was a little kid at the 90s, but given the horrible reception in this film, I now hate it as a young adult. Robin William's performance, Danny Elfman's good music score and the spectacular special effects doesn't save this movie from it's unfunny humor, a totally rehashed story of a 1960s film, forgettable characters, and the late John Hughes' pathetic script. My words to you guys is: If someone has great directing skills and Disney had a chance to remake The Absent Minded Professor again, please get Steven Spielberg to did it only if you're ready to make a better script with better humor and better characters. 3.4/10
