This is not exactly the most interesting version of that subgenre, mostly because I don’t care all that much about Resident Evil. Go to Full Review

Starting as a mini-tribute to Romero’s foundational influence to the zombie genre, the film finally settles into a well-researched but almost audiobook like presentation on the truth and rumors surrounding his lost interpretation of video game lore. Go to Full Review

Ricardo d @RT43154676 Jun 24 Um documentário interessante, mas tive que assistir em 3 semanas pois a edição e a voz do narrador me davam um delicioso sono. See more Greg D @RT09710274 01/14/2025 I am a mark for all things Resident Evil, having played all the mainline games multiple times, watched all the films—animated and live action—multiple times, and read several of the SD Perry novels, and yet I can’t recommend this documentary to even diehard fans. I found it to be an overly long, boring, slog of a documentary that seemed to have not much at all to do with George A Romero’s unmade Resident Evil film. They padded the documentary with some history of the first two games, which was fine in the context of the narrative, but then spent what seemed to be equal measures talking about the Paul W.S. Anderson films, as they did the unmade Romero film. All told, there was very little new information for a fan of the series, and what was included was just not very compelling. Some looks at potential early monster designs were interesting, and hearing some of the horror industry legends who were initially tied to the film was also interesting in a what-might-have-been sort of way, but the lion’s share of the content was very ‘tell don’t show’. Lots of pre-recorded audio interviews played over slow panning shots of scrips. Pretty disappointing in the end. See more Hunter H @RT07286445 01/12/2025 George A Romero’s Resident Evil is a great documentary, both for Romero and Resident Evil fans. It’s able to tell a good story of how Romero’s Resident Evil movie never saw the light of day, but it also celebrates George A. Romero, the grandfather of zombie movies, who left behind a legacy. See more B P @Bradster69 01/10/2025 An Informative but Imperfect Documentary. This documentary will likely appeal to die-hard Romero fans. Anyone else can safely take a pass. See more Austin G @RT86812697 01/08/2025 If you are a fan of Resident Evil, this film is for you. After decades of on-screen adaptations, many fans of the games including myself felt as though the movies were not good representations of what made the games so captivating. This film works as an antidote, documenting what could have been had George A Romero's Resident Evil been fully realized. After many years of researching a topic, there were many details within this documentary that I was not aware of. Must see! See more Read all reviews
