As Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) ages, he finds that being the head of the Corleone crime family isn't getting any easier. He wants his family out of the Mafia, but the mob kingpin (Eli Wallach) isn't eager to let one of the most powerful and wealthy families go legit. Making matters even worse is Michael's nephew, Vincent (Andy Garcia). Not only does Vincent want a piece of the Corleone family's criminal empire, but he also wants Michael's daughter, Mary (Sofia Coppola).

While the remastered version by Coppola is better and the 4K restoration is nice. This film has a lot left to desire. Pacino gives a good passable performance in a sea of underperformances. And while this film has the shortest run time in the entire trilogy it feels like it's the longest in the Trilogy with its incredibly slow pacing.

Often unfairly compared to its legendary predecessors, The Godfather Part III is a powerful and deeply moving conclusion to the saga. Instead of repeating past glories, it explores guilt, aging, and the cost of power with a somber, operatic weight. Al Pacino delivers a raw, vulnerable performance as Michael Corleone confronting the consequences of his life, and the climactic sequence set to Cavalleria Rusticana is among the most emotionally devastating moments in the trilogy. Its reflective tone and tragic ending give the story a poetic final chapter that deserves far more appreciation.

Possibly my personal favorite in the entire trilogy! The Godfather Part III returns for one final epic chapter in the world of Michael Corleone. The film sheds an uneasy light of what happens when corrupt faith leaders get in bed with the criminal underworld. Michael Corleone looking to make amends for his past mistakes pulls him into a timeless battle between light and darkness. It is no longer a war for the city but for the entire world. From the streets of NYC to the grand city of Rome, the Godfather Part III is a masterpiece of ushering in this epic finale.
