For the longest time, people have asked me what my favorite movie was, and I was never able to give them a clear answer. But I've finally settled on this. Clocking in at over three hours, the movie pays homage to the low-budget exploitation films of the ‘70s and includes two full-length features (Planet Terror, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof) and a handful of fictitious trailers directed by the likes of Rob Zombie, Eli Roth, and Edgar Wright. It’s kind of the cinematic equivalent of a great painter paying homage to "Dogs Smoking Cigars While Playing Poker", but who am I to judge? The whole thing sort of defies analysis, but full props to those involved for capturing the grindhouse vibe of a different era. If you like fast cars, scantily-clad women, and plenty of blood and guts, you’ll probably love Grindhouse.
