Critics Consensus

By the power of Grayskull and with a little help from its self-deprecating script and spirited cast, Masters of the Universe is a delightful adventure that finds the humanity in He-Man.

Was totally swept away by this super vibrant, weird and gleeful romp. It's downright ridiculous but ridiculous works when the cast and crew wholly get the kind of movie they're making and are enthusiastic about going all out to bring it to life. Go to Full Review

A better than it should be reboot of a 1980s relic that still falls far short of deserving a hero’s welcome, though He-Man Nicholas Galitzine and scary Skeletor Jared Leto add just the right tone of mocking irreverence. Go to Full Review

A two-hour-plus comedy-and-effects bonanza whose fantasy images are more notable for their quantity than quality, like a digital Golden Corral. Go to Full Review

While not as clever as the Barbie movie, Master of the Universe manages to impress where it shouldn’t, giving us a much more entertaining two hours than you would ever expect from such a picture. Go to Full Review

Aaron B 14m I was like the cartoon I watched as a kid, but with real people I enjoyed watching. So much fun. (Evil laugh outro) See more FartsareFunny_ClownsToo 15m Good, fun movie for the whole family. Remember the satanic panic of the 80s saying Masters of the universe was blasphemous and demonic.... lol, people are dumb. See more Michael 23m I like the background story of Adam. The movie has good comedy scenes. Especially, the goofy accusations from Skeletor. I didn't like the fact that Kranger was not with Adam while living on earth. They are inseparable. Plus he doesn't turn into Battlecat until the very end of the movie. See more Nikolaus 27m This movie was really awesome , I grew up on the original cartoon & the movie makes you feel like you’re watching the show all over again. See more Heather 33m super comical, lots of action. over all good movie See more Stephen G 38m The best live-action movie of the year! Whether you're an '80s kid fueled by nostalgia or a child of today, this immersive fantasy is an absolute must-see. The script stays incredibly faithful to the original concept, and the visual execution is flawless. I heard kids in the theater cheering, and I was cheering right along with them!
