The 78-minute dive into why the 18-year-old wants to take high-speed hugs around California’s curvy coastal highways, crouching atop a mere slice of wood on wheels, goes on a 758-mile trip to answer the title’s question. As it turns out, the answer is twofold. Yes, we do learn what makes the dark-eyed fox-focused Nick tick. But better, is how even the most risk-adverse viewer comes to an eventual, if not momentary, understanding of the rush itself.
