Are you ready to suspend any kind of belief in anything, sit back with a gigantic bucket of popcorn and a good Diet Coke, and just be entertained? Well, this movie is probably for you. It’s a real Romm. It’s truly a drive down lunacy Road, but if you like Monty Python or you like Green acres, it comes up with some pretty absurd comedy that some of us, including me find really refreshing and enjoyable. See more Alan E @AlanEvil Dec 14 I saw this opening night in a packed theater and was utterly charmed, entertained, and psyched to see the sequel which never happened. I couldn't believe it ended up being kind of a dud as the audience roared at every joke. There's little introduction to any of the characters, they're real life superheroes with comic books about them and you're in their world now. Hollywood could learn from that part (no more origin stories, dammit!). The number of young future superstars is fantastic and John Lithgow is just incredible. The cast is truly stellar. It's incredibly campy and the budget wasn't huge, but that's kind of part of its genius. It's dirty and real, the music club they play is crappy, the organic spaceships were ahead of their time, and the jokes, the one-liners, the unadulterated corniness played as straight as an arrow all combines for a fun ride. If you haven't seen it you should, and if it's been a while, watch it again. Story was fun, so I couldn’t wait to see it. When I did I was one of 4 in theater. Fell for it then and still love it today. There’s a great video of Kevin Smith introducing a screening, with Weller and Lithgow in attendance. W.D. Richter has a first rate filmography that needs a retrospective. See more David M. @Deckard78 Nov 3 The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai is a unique film in a lot of ways. To start off simply it is not for everyone. You will either adore this film or know it’s not for you after the first viewing. Fans of the film like myself understand that. It’s how special and different the movie is. But that’s okay. I first saw it really little and it took over my imagination! That feeling has never really left me. I understand the movie is wacky, crazy and silly. But I love it. I think part of it is the filmmaker’s created this world where they dropped you in the middle of everything going on. It had this comic book and movie serial feel to it as well. That made me just fall in love. But if it we didn’t have Peter Weller and the cast playing those parts at that time in their careers it would not have worked either. That is to me why it’s become such a cult film all those pieces fell into places people found it on their own. I hope if you do watch this one you get as much enjoyment as I always do!
