'The Last Full Measure' is a great and yet tragic story of a man who saved sixty lives in Vietnam. As a former military veteran, I can't help but feel a connection to this great film.

The Last Full Measure takes war films to a whole new level. Filled with heart and a close up look at the horrors on and off the field, it's a must see.

This movie was made for a specific audience -- vets, current military and their families. Many movies uplifting vets can reach a wide audience, not this one. However, I loved seeing talented actors from the 70's that have been ignored for years.

One of the strengths of Todd Robinson's film lies in the casting of a gallery of fine actors in almost every role.

[T]he movie ultimately bites off more than it can chew, and its excessive use of flashbacks makes for a rather disjointed watch that will truly test your patience.

The Last Full Measure fumbles at telling a remarkably powerful story with its bland screenplay that often feels like style over substance.

The award ceremony, when group after group of servicemen, family members, and various and assorted people touched by this courageous airman's valorous deed are asked to stand-and one can see how vast the repercussions of good deeds are-it's truly moving.

Not bad for a regulation military movie, but I must confess to a wandering attention span; how else could I notice the cigarette that Jackson removes from the pack of Marlboros is an American Spirit?

Preachy script bogs down violent story of courage and valor.
January 28, 2020 at least makes a decent case for its central argument. If Forrest Gump can get the Medal of Honor almost by accident, surely this real hero deserves one too.

Acting grace notes almost rescue a generally graceless and lumbering combat/post-combat drama.

A lethargic, preachy, maudlin and clunky mess despite a fine cast.

The meticulous script and sensitive direction signal in Todd Robinson the virtues of a major filmmaker at work.

The Last Full Measure is a fine portrayal of an important story that you won't feel has wasted your time.

Talk of honor and sacrifice flood the screen and our tear ducts.

It's very earnest and very safe. Everyone explains everything that they are thinking in the most poignant way every time. It is very predictable and expected.

If you're going to put Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, William Hurt, Christopher Plummer and Peter Fonda in one movie together, you're really going to have to mess up to get me to not recommend it.

The weakness of the movie is that it so skims on what actions Pitsenbarger did to set him above other soldiers who voluntarily put their lives at risk.
January 24, 2020
[Airman William] Pitsenbarger's heroics are undoubtedly meaningful, but [writer/director Todd] Robinson's script is strictly by the numbers and, thus, lacks the emotion needed to fully appreciate a cinematic retelling of this patriot's sacrifice.

At this point, having every Vietnamese character be a bloodthirsty butcher with no lines reinforces that this feels more like a 1980s TV movie than a considered tribute to a fallen hero
