One of the bad sea creatures is actually good and holds ultimate sway over all the other creatures. So after the humans shoot it a few times, harpoon it, bury it under a house, and hold a knife to its eye it decides to tell all the bad aliens to be nice to the humans. Then all the humans and the sea creatures return to the ocean for some idiotic reason. None of what follows is their fault. A family of four is mysteriously sealed inside their home by an unseen force: doors won’t open, windows won’t shatter, as weeks and then years tick by. As a naturally claustrophobic person with fresh pandemic lockdown scars, this experience stressed me out considerably, which is a point in its favor. But overall it’s just a good idea, with subpar execution. The film is too inert to fully explore its oceanic creature-feature premise, and the schmaltzy ending undoes nearly everything that came before it, shattering the bounds of believability into so many little shards. One suspects this was aimed at people who fancy they’d survive the apocalypse with pluck and a seed garden. Most of us would not make it past day one. Continue your search on Rotten Tomatoes until you find something worth watching. This movie is simply stupid. Premise is some goofy monsters that look like giant sandcrabs smothered in seaweed somehow take over the earth's climate causing it to rain constantly and they also somehow have the technology to lock everyone in their homes with an invisible barrier until the monsters get around to eating whoever is in the house. This family somehow lives in their home for years sustaining themselves by using a fishing pole to catch small animals 'casting' their fishing line up through the home's chimney. Yes, they learned those survival techniques on Corporal's Corner on YouTube. believe me it gets worse. At the end they make friends with the sandcrabs and sail away on the family boat. Go figure. I would have loved to have been at the 'pitch' meeting for this film. See more Grayson A @RT65224575 3 days ago It's got a cool concept, the beginning wasn't all that bad, but the whole movie has got a lot of plot holes and has the most cringe and unrealistic, no monster is ever going to just going to keep their promise and spare their prey like that especially if they're potentially the last prey left.
