Movie Info

This made-for-TV movie recounts the true story of Susan Wilson, a Louisiana housewife whose peace of mind was shattered by the unwelcome intrusions of a "trusted" friend. After moving next door to the affable Steve Glover (Jamey Sheridan), who was not only an above-suspicion family man but also a deacon in the Wilsons' church, Susan (Angie Harmon) and her husband Gary (Dale Midkiff) soon became irritated with Glover's unannounced drop-ins and unwarranted favors. Her suspicions aroused, Susan eventually discovered that Glover was spying on Susan with high-tech video equipment, recording her every move. Unfortunately, while voyeurism was regarded as a "nuisance" by the authorities, it was not officially a crime. Through Susan's indefatigable efforts, a law was passed in Louisiana in 1999, rendering illegal the sort of sordid activities indulged in by Glover -- legislation that would be ultimately adopted in nine other states. Filmed in Vancouver, Video Voyeur: The Susan Wilson Story was first telecast over the Lifetime cable network on January 21, 2002.

...the movie is so over-the-top and one-sided...that it's hard to ever really take it seriously.

Shocking story. I couldn't imagine going through this, much less coming out of it as strong as she did.

The Susan Wilson Story did a fine job of portraying the stress and emotional horror brought on by the sick criminal acts of her disgusting neighbor and the people who saw nothing wrong with what her neighbor did. Susan Wilson is a hero for getting laws changed to make Voyeurism a felony. There are too many evil and disgusting people in our world and we need protection from them.
