This series follows the tragic tale of three orphans -- Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire -- who are investigating their parents' mysterious death. The siblings are saddled with an evil guardian named Count Olaf (portrayed by Emmy-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris), who will do whatever it takes to get his hands on the Baudelaires' inheritance. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling devious plans and disguises. The series is based on the best-selling series of books by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler).

Critics Consensus

Enjoyably dark, A Series of Unfortunate Events matches the source material's narrative as well as its tone, leaving viewers with a wonderfully weird, dry, gothic comedy.

Tyler C @HelloitsTyler Dec 29 Absolutely amazing! One of my favorite shows growing up. See more Zane M Sep 17 This is an amazing dark show. If you like dark stories this is an absolute must see. The plot is amazing with Count Olaf wanting the orphan's fortune. The acting is amazing and the sets are amazing. It is an amazing story and an amazing exact adaptation of the books. See more Maliyah P. @Maliyah Aug 12 How do I watch it? I See more L L Apr 28 This show is, quite frankly, complete rubbish. The plot is incoherent and nonsense. What’s worse, there is a deeply unsettling undertone that borders on paedophilic themes, making it extremely uncomfortable to watch. Rather than providing thought-provoking or meaningful content, the show seems to revel in its own tastelessness, leaving viewers feeling uneasy and questioning why it was even made. Any attempt at artistic merit is utterly overshadowed by its inappropriate and disturbing undertones. In short, this is not just a bad tv show - it’s a deeply unpleasant and infuriating experience that should have never made it to release. I would give negative 10 stars if I could. See more tiago m 12/19/2024 É muito fraca e arrastada, os protagonistas e o Olaf são interessantes, mas tem muito personagem ruim e descartável. O narrador é legal, mas falta algo, fica só genérica as falas dele See more angela g @Sunflower378 05/15/2024 the first season was really good and the show gets better and better See more Read all reviews
