Here, the stakes are a bit higher, the storyline successfully rises above Birmingham and new additions to the cast breathe new life into the interpersonal relationships and sub-plots. (Tom Hardy is intense as ever). This is an extremely addictive series...if you're into this kind of period piece. From my perspective, it's nearly perfect; I just have two very small complaints: Sam Neill's character remains a bit underdeveloped and that is also true for Annabelle Wallis's Grace Burgess. With an extremely talented actor heavyweight like Cillian Murphy as the lead, there's the need for an equal counterpart and so far I haven't seen one. (Not yet).
