Two archaeology professors take their history lessons on the road, traveling across the country to investigate and examine unique artifacts. Jason De León and Kirk French, friends from their graduate days together at Penn State who both hold doctorate degrees in anthropology, research each item themselves and also consult with experts and historians to learn the object's historical and cultural context: what it is, where it came from, who made it, and why. As French says, "No one owns history, it belongs to all of us; it's our American past."
