While Mr. Bourdain can make just about anything entertaining, his real impact still depends on food - on the knowledge and emotion he brings to an encounter with a perfectly fried lobster or a board of fresh-cut charcuterie.

He eats the disgusting stuff, so you don't have to. He does so with plenty of good humour and wit, and you find out something about these places along the way.

[Bourdain's] laidback approach to both traveling and eating amounts to a cult of personality.

Outgoing and wry, Bourdain does a good job of keeping the energy up and introducing viewers to cultures they might not have been exposed to before.

The man will eat anything at least once, and you can be sure he'll let the audience know how he feels. His sarcasm towards a local delicacy can often be harsh, and damnit I wouldn't want it any other way.

All in all, "No Reservations" is a pretty cool reality series, even if "cool" and "reality series" often seem like a contradiction in terms.
