You can go home again, as long as you sleep on the couch. Former big-city banker Josh moves back to Big Lake, Pa., crashing on his parents' couch after he loses his job ... and his father's entire retirement fund in a bungled Wall Street transaction. He reunites with Glenn, his childhood best friend who has just been released from prison, and Josh's favorite high-school teacher, Mr. Henkel, who's now burned out on the job. Together, the threesome cook up a plethora of get-rich-quick schemes to try to earn back the money, as Josh simultaneously deals with his irate dad, who wants to kick him out of the house. Meanwhile, Josh's seemingly dorky 13-year-old brother has plenty of cash. Little does anyone know his pockets are lined with drug-dealing money.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Big Lake falls flat, overreaching in its effort to be unique and amusingly odd.

It's this discordant gimmick - uncomfortable humor set in the cozy confines of the mainstream American sitcom - that makes Big Lake worth checking out. Go to Full Review
