Blended families are becoming more common as people increasingly get divorced and remarried. This Swedish drama explores the complexities of relationships when two families come together as one. When Lisa and Patrik, who both have children with their exes, get married difficulties arise with everyone living together under one roof. The new family dynamic sometimes leads to problems with what should be a typical task, such as throwing a joint birthday party for their two sons. And then there are the exes, who remain in Lisa and Patrik's life.

It's a TV premise that's been played with a lot. However, I urge you to give Bonus Family a shot. Few other shows better revel in the small, awkward missteps of changing families, and the result is horrifyingly funny. Go to Full Review

gloria c @kidglo 12/02/2024 It's interesting at times. Eddie and Lisa's ex are difficult in the extreme. They need anger-management therapy, especially Eddie who seems to get away with very bad behavior. Lisa seems intent on shielding him from his faults. She solves everything with a big hug and very big kiss, but Eddie is still emotionally disturbed. That part of the show is hard to take. You feel like you want to put him in boot camp, or tell Lisa, it doesn't go away with a big hug and kiss. Lisa foul mouths it to anyone that bothers her, especially about Eddie. Her sister eggs her on about her daughter's father, and she seems passive about that, rather than telling her to shut up. She finally does do that, but it was too late to stop the trouble she made. The only sane person seems like Patrik and his son, both of who seem to get the worst of it. A little discipline wouldn't hurt Lisa's two children. See more 02/22/2022 The best family drama I have ever seen. Such a treat to immerse myself in! See more 12/19/2021 The child Eddie almost makes this show unwatchable for me. He is such a foul mouthed brat and his parents do nothing to stop his behavior. I can't stand his character. If it weren't for that I would give this show five stars. See more 05/17/2021 I did enjoy this series, however, I did find it offputting the way the writers were obviously weaving their anti-Christian beliefs into the scripts. They made sure that we knew that Martin and his family were atheists. So unnecessary. Why did they have to make such a big deal about the Christening of the new baby? The daughter did not want to attend and made it clear by referring to it as "that damn Christening" I think writers should keep their religious beliefs out of it. See more 01/03/2021 One of the best things on Netflix. Beautifully written and acted comedy drama. See more 07/22/2019 I couldn't get through 3 episodes. I can't stand this show! i stuck it out this long due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but it's just unbearable. Worse than unbearable it makes my stomach get tied up in knots and my whole body tense. The bickering, the little shit of a kid that is Eddie, the poor other son whose name I can't even remember b/c he gets pushed aside and bullied and forced to blend into the wallpaper. The violence eminating out of every word and movement of Eddie's father. The indulgence and complete lack of parenting by his mother. I feel bad for the boyfriend and don't understand what he sees in her or why he apparantly sticks it out for 3 seasons. I can't even stand the therapists and I *am* a therapist. They are horrible! This is a terribly written show that just keeps hitting you over the head with fighting, bickering and tension with no relief. How is it considered a dramedy when there is nothing funny in the script. If I could give it negative stars for all it's stolen from me, I would. See more Read all reviews
