Food can be universally enjoyed and act as a catalyst for positive change. In "Breaking Borders," cuisine created by acclaimed chef Michael Voltaggio is served in global places of unrest to see if conflicting forces can work out differences over dinner. Voltaggio, a former champion of the Bravo series "Top Chef," is joined by Peabody-winning journalist Mariana van Zeller in Israel, Palestine, Northern Ireland, Egypt, Cuba, Rwanda, Sri Lanka and more, to learn about cultures and uncover how food helps define residents. As van Zeller digs deeper into the issues, Voltaggio collects ideas and ingredients to create mouthwatering meals inspired by the people of each region. "It's amazing how people talk more freely around a dinner table," van Zeller says. "Food always unites, even where war divides."
