This two-part true-crime documentary takes viewers back in time, dusting off case files from nearly 40 years ago. It follows two women, detective Jackie Nichols and Gloria Bobertz, as they work to unravel mysterious disappearances that tormented the small Lewis Clark Valley area along the Washington and Idaho border in the 1980s. Five youngsters vanished, and to this day only three bodies have been found. The other disappearances remained unsolved. While local police worked for years to find the culprit, the cases were shelved due to minimal evidence and leads. Now Nichols and Bobertz, the cousin of one of the victims, track down old witnesses and pursue new leads. The most chilling part of these cases? Investigators are certain who the killer is, but no one has been able to gather enough evidence to confidently prosecute him.

07/27/2020 Hours of watching and you never find out who the suspect is. Why bother except to see if anyone else steps up with more information. But otherwise, they make it seem like they're going to tell you who it is but they never do. See more 07/26/2019 I waited breathlessly until the end of the two part (3 hour) series to get the name of the VERY Credibly Accused Suspect in this Cold Case...and Heads Up Everyone! This is the First True Crime Documentary in the history of film that NEVER ( Ever!) Reveals the name of the VERY CREDIBLY Accused Suspect. I was raised in one of the small Snake River towns near the murders and I SWEAR to God, Only in this backwoods backward-thinking part of the country would a true crime documentary write its own rules for naming suspects. ...totally titillating viewers into thinking there will be a big reveal, and then NOTHING. Cold Valley never reveals the name of the suspect THEY are investigating over many years . If this guy gets away with these murders, and others, this show must shoulder most of the blame. See more 12/16/2018 An unusual crime documentary, in that there is a prime suspect who cannot be named because of on-going investigation! This lays out an initial disappearance of 1 person, then tentatively linked to another 3, Remains of some are recovered. Years later, a dogged cop and some private citizens link a living person to all the others. They then research this persons past, finding 1-2 other unsolved murders he appeared to have a connection to. Apparently this was made to keep pressure on public officials.
