Ed R @JustcallmeER Jul 7 THE ONLY positive about this series is that Netflix and America finally focused on other teams. It's only a matter of time before FIBA rules the world. Watching the egos of America was tasteless and ignorant. See more johnny T @RT40637833 Jun 14 Look at curry man, so inspirational See more jason c @RT54706002 04/13/2025 The series started off entertaining. Having access to team USA’s gold medal winning performance was something I was hoping for. But as it progressed, Court of Gold focused more on the competing countries journeys with very limited insight to team USA. I turned it off after episode 4. Could’ve been so much better See more Ware W @RT33593672 02/25/2025 Fantastic series that exceeded my expectations despite being very, very different from what I anticipated. I expected Team USA to dominate the series, but in fact the filmmakers, in their own words, chose to focus equally on four teams from the beginning (USA, FRA, SRB, CAN). Yes, Team USA ultimately gets a little more screen time, but the inside look at the other teams is what makes this series special, while also elevating Team USA's accomplishment. The series shows locker-room moments that are remarkably intimate, vulnerable and fiery from players like Jokic, Curry, Durant, Batum (Batum is an amazing character in this story), and many others. Similarly, you get to watch on as coaching staffs from each team discuss strategy, their hopes and fears, the USA juggernaut, etc. Witnessing the different coaching philosophies from around the world operate in real time is simply sublime. I walked away with a deeper respect for international competition mostly due to their ride-or-die passion for the game. Again, I want to highlight these privileged scenes because the filmmakers reportedly had to work really hard to gain trust and to become invisible during high intensity moments. Some viewers are disappointed certain players didn't receive more screen time; Lebron first and foremost. But just as the filmmakers focused on four teams, they also focused on a handful of players, many of whom are not on Team USA (they struck gold with Curry, however). This was partly due to access restrictions; apparently a number of players specifically limited the film team's access. On the one hand, it's not surprising that someone like Lebron, who very much prefers to control how he is portrayed, wouldn't want to star in someone else's documentary. But this is the team from "The Last Dance." They're good at what they do, and boy did it pay off for the players who went along for the ride. Just as an example, they make Dillon Brooks look like a guy who won Best To Take Home To Mom & Dad in high school superlatives. Dillon Brooks! To be fair, Dillon seems to be a genuinely good human, and that's the beauty of the series. It's so much different than what I expected, and so much better for it. See more Walt S @RT36330541 02/25/2025 A wonderful in depth look at the major basketball teams and their players/ coaches competing for gold in the 2024 Olympics. We certainly appreciate the super U.S. team, but came away with a greater appreciation for the other super teams and their players. See more Wendy P @RT09678990 02/23/2025 An absolute love song to Olympics Basketball and the spirit of the sport. A true Avengers Assemble master class. See more Read all reviews
