And Diarra makes us care enough to hope she gets what she needs out of solving the case, whether that’s validation, commendation or that second date she’d pinned her heart on. We can relate, which is why we're staying on this detective's six. Go to Full Review

Part missing-person mystery, part comedy about a middle school teacher coming to grips with her impending divorce and part drama about long-buried secrets, it has tremendous style right from the start — sardonic, knowing and self-deprecating. Go to Full Review

The mystery is intriguing, but the show’s real draw are hilarious scripts delivered by a wonderful cast. Go to Full Review

The jokes are nonstop, and they aren't just cheesy one-liners or zingers, as the situations Diarra finds herself in are inherently funny, as is our star. The delivery consistently lands like a punch from Ali. Go to Full Review

Marco J @RT16816901 Oct 27 They kept it fun, smart, touching, intriguing and sexy. The plot’s well weaven and helps believing even its most baroque twists. Kudos to the amazing cast and production. The dynamics between the characters. The heroine is someone you want to believe in. And the cast around her were brilliant actors. I can’t wait for season 2. This was so well done. Watched in a day and about to go on for a rewatch. Deserves and Emmy. And I watch a lot of shows. Quick to find a plot hole. But this show exceeded expectations. I can’t get that lady in the blue dress from the divorce party in ep 2 out of my head either. She was HILARIOUS. See more ben w @RT78261012 01/30/2025 **TV Show Review: "Diarrhea in Detroit" – More Gross Than Gripping** “Diarrhea in Detroit” is a show that attempts to blend crime-solving with, well, bathroom humor, but unfortunately, it often feels more uncomfortable than clever. The premise is bizarre, to say the least—a down-and-out detective, Max Downer, is tasked with solving a series of crimes in Detroit, all while struggling with an ongoing, inexplicable digestive issue that seems to pop up at the worst possible moments. It’s a quirky concept, sure, but it often feels more like a gimmick than anything remotely watchable. Max, played by an actor who seems to be doing his best to juggle both serious detective work and comedic toilet humor, is the show’s biggest flaw. His constant, unexplainable trips to the bathroom interrupt what little suspense there is in the investigation. And while the show clearly wants to play this as a comedic running gag, it too often detracts from the actual plot. The jokes around Max’s unfortunate condition feel stale and borderline gross after the first few episodes, making it hard to appreciate whatever crime case he’s supposed to be solving. As for the crimes themselves—well, they’re predictable, lacking the depth or intrigue that could balance out the absurdity of the premise. Max stumbles through each case, often solving them by sheer dumb luck while dealing with his increasingly desperate attempts to find a bathroom. There’s a hint of potential in the stories, but it’s drowned out by the constant barrage of flatulence jokes, awkward bathroom scenes, and slapstick humor that just doesn’t land. The character of Detective Lisa Sharp, Max’s no-nonsense partner, could have been an interesting foil to his buffoonery, but she’s reduced to a straight-faced babysitter, always reacting with an eye-roll or exasperated sigh. It’s hard to root for her when the show barely gives her any real agency beyond trying to keep Max’s “condition” in check. “Diarrhea in Detroit” is attempting to be a dark comedy, but it’s a thin line between edgy and offensive, and unfortunately, this show crosses it more often than not. It’s as if the writers threw a crime procedural, slapstick comedy, and gross-out humor into a blender without really thinking about how those elements should work together. There are moments where the show does manage to be oddly charming, but they’re few and far between, buried under the weight of too much lowbrow humor. If you’re looking for something truly unique, this may scratch an itch—but if you’re hoping for a well-balanced crime show that mixes humor with intrigue, “Diarrhea in Detroit” is definitely a hard pass. It’s less about solving the case and more about wondering how much longer you can tolerate the same joke before it turns sour. See more Michele F @RT76414653 09/22/2024 Love Love Loved it!
