A divorced psychologist tries to help his patients, some of them famous, cope with their life traumas while sharing his home with aimless adult son Ben, who only lives to make passes at Dr. Katz's sarcastic receptionist, Laura. The show was animated in a style, called Squigglevision, invented by the show's co-creator, Tom Snyder.

Jonathan K 05/29/2021 While not every episode is a winner, Season 3 of Doctor Katz does represent when the show fully adopted its nearly-flawless mix of biting humor with oddly subdued energy. The characters of Laura and Ben, whom I felt were the weakest links in Season 2, are much better handled here, and the comedians are still very much varied in terms of their humor, with some being aggressive, some being well-natured, some being clean and some being risque, there are no two Couch Session jokes alike. This season also gives us some great expansions as to the lives of Doctor Kats and Ben on a personal level as well - There's 2 episodes fully dedicated to the fact that Doctor Katz has a (professional) music background, one dedicated to Ben realizing he has no stylistic identity, one episode involving Ben having to take care of the Doctor due to an injury, and one where Ben makes a full-fledged attempt at running a one-man business of his own. Oh, and there's one episode called "Mourning Person" that sees a death in their extended family, and treats it with just a hint of sincerity, while at the same time making well-natured humor from that, and in all honestly, I would consider this the Second-Funniest episode in the entire series. Heck, this series offers no real chronology whatsoever, so if you're looking at the prospect of watching this show, you can certainly start with Season 3, and then rewind -- The two preceding Seasons are both great, but this one is better than either of them.
