Critic Reviews for Earth 2 Season 1

All Critics (8) | Top Critics (5)

Only when "Earth 2" belatedly plunges into a dreamlike realm of time warps and overlapping realities does it become interesting. Otherwise, the opening story is neither futuristic nor suspenseful.

Jun 6, 2019 | Full Review…

"Earth 2" does have some dramatic vistas and magnificent natural lighting, but for a sci-fi exercise, it's remarkably short on eye-popping effects.

Jun 6, 2019 | Full Review…

Judging by the two-hour premiere episode, "Earth 2" is a well-crafted and entertaining show, based less on high-tech action than interpersonal relationships.

Jun 6, 2019 | Full Review…

Earth 2 is a lot more engrossing than most hour-long adventure shows.

Jun 6, 2019 | Rating: B+ | Full Review…

If it allows the characters and ideas to drive the series while mixing in doses of crowd-pleasing action, there's certainly a chance "Earth 2" might boldly survive where few NBC series have survived before.

Jun 6, 2019 | Full Review…

It isn't a bad show - it certainly has some nice qualities - but after watching the entire series on DVD you can't help but shrug it all off with a "meh."

Jun 6, 2019 | Rating: 5/10 | Full Review…

Visually it's quite ugly and the aliens fairly derivative. Crippled by a slow beginning and lack of clear direction, it joins the likes of Terra Nova and Jericho; competent but cancelled due to a lack of viewers.

Jun 6, 2019 | Rating: 7/10 | Full Review…

As a whole, the series is greater than the sum of its parts. At times, it's a well constructed human drama. But, it also has moments where it becomes far too complex and up itself a little, and basically turns into a Lost prototype.

Excellent show! Wish I could find it on a streaming service.

This series has everything as long as you're not looking for laughs. The two primary species of aliens leave lots of room for exploration. What really drives the series is the interpersonal relationships between the colonists, as well as between the colonists and aliens. Also propelling the series are notions of right and wrong on a new world. There is poignancy and betrayal, but also restoration.
