The structure is familiar... but the contestants have a genuine level of expertise and there’s a fitting subtext of finding not just the best chef, but also the one who can create a profitable, attention-grabbing profile. Go to Full Review

The abundance of cooking competition shows means each new series needs something to set it apart; this show attempts to solve this problem by including presentation as part of the competition. Go to Full Review

Five Star Chef elevates the cooking competition format a little bit, but at its heart it’s still a cooking competition. Go to Full Review

Olivia K @Olivia902 Jan 26 This show was really sad. Judges were biased and not fair. Do not renew this show. A disgrace to the cooking world. Judge people off their cooking and not them as an individual. Very BIAS!! See more Austin L Feb 20 Felt very scripted, especially with the end result. Biased judges, outlandish criticism, even more boneheaded praise. When it came down the execution they didnt care, more they cared about “concept”. Very pretentious, waste of time. See more Ashley C 02/02/2025 Disregard the opinions of who’s “the best” it’s very clear people have preconceived biases they can’t and won’t acknowledge. To call dom terrible and the worst is an exaggeration and clearly shows personal issues. However, the worst thing about this show was the judges. Their opinions were often cringy and as if they took things personally in a way that made no sense. See more Sarah S 07/30/2024 Quality of chefs is high, however I am really disappointed with the unnecessary criticism of them which is not constructive. At times it felt like the Judges had just seen an episode of Gordan Ramsey and took some inspiration from his derogatory attitude. At the end one of the chefs is clearly under pressure however maintains composure just for Michelle Roue to tell him he had turned it into an unmitigated disaster. Could have been better had the judges given some positive comments for chefs who let's face it are already at the top of their game. Kids bake off presenter also unnecessarily mean in comments, she expressed verbally that she was offended by a cake!! See more Daniella V 04/04/2024 It's so sad to see how 1 person can overpower the opinion of others. All the praise and good compliments from the kitchen staff, even Michel regarding how amazing Jordan's performance was and just let him go? In this type of thing you CAN'T have favorites!!! All of them had their good and bad dishes but Dom's attitude, lack of leadership, and the way he didn't know how to keep the fluency of the kitchen for the final should've been enough for him NOT to win. A lot of complaints, people leaving, the staff just waiting around for him to talk, seriously? And then there was Jordan who had a problem with 2 dishes but worked everything smoothly, staff was happy with him, everyone knew what to do and felt comfortable and he is eliminated???? I feel robbed of my time and disappointed! See more Laura T 08/09/2023 I very much wish I had read the viewer reviews before wasting my time watching this show. The only well-rounded and proficient chef with cuisine that appeared worthy of five stars was eliminated before the finals and the winner was so incredibly flawed as a potential head chef that I would be amazed if anyone who watched the debacle of his final service on the show visited this establishment for a meal. I will steer well clear. See more Read all reviews
