Incredible filmmaking. Continues to surprise up till the final episode. A fantastic 8-hour film that manages to keep things fresh and exciting, entertaining, heartfelt, and artistic (including some very big risks in terms of filmmaking, especially toward the end) without being pretentious. A must-see for lovers of Japanese cinema and crime dramas with an artsy flair.

I am really confused by this rating. So many baffling decisions were made. One dimensional characters, across the board. Rodney is the only redeeming character in the series. He needs a spin-off.

Exciting, eclectic, combining genres and is in both Japanese and English. The ability of the producers to keep such a combination of techniques, styles, and events dancing together in harmony without it falling apart truly sets it above and beyond other series. One of the best shows out there. It's very disappointing that it was canceled after only one season.

This is by far one of the greatest shows I have ever seen. It's artful, creative and existential in all the best ways possible. The fact it isn't more widely known is a sad indictment on the current state of television.
