Lucy Velez wants to grow up. The teen spent most of her childhood at Happyland, a theme park where her mother, Elena, has played Princess Adriana for two decades and loves the idea of a never-ending fairy tale. However the park's refrain "Dreams Come True" rings false to Lucy, and she plans to flee Happyland for the real world. Those plans make a U-turn when Ian Chandler -- the park owner's charming son -- connects with Lucy. A magic romance could be on the horizon, or maybe a family scandal will erupt! Neil Meron and Craig Zadan executive produce the soaplike dramedy.

Sarah Rodman Boston Globe 10/01/2014
The pilot for this new series doesn't bode quite as well [as Awkward, Teen Wolf, and Finding Carter] but could end up being fun as it explores the employee side of working in a theme park. Go to Full Review

Actually, the show is so bland, it feels better suited for ABC Family, rather than following MTV's once-brilliant Awkward. Go to Full Review

Everyone in Happyland is picture-postcard attractive. Well, everyone except a scraggly guy known as Dirty Dave. Wait a minute - is that Josh Groban? Yes, it is. Happyland may be harmless, but it has its occasional surprises. Go to Full Review
Sabienna Bowman TV Equals 10/08/2014
The series' aim is to prove life can provide enough fodder to fuel fairy tales with enough bite to take on anything in the Grimm brothers' catalog, but so far Happyland is too mild mannered to provoke much more than vague interest. Go to Full Review
Emily Ashby Common Sense Media 10/02/2014

Happily the show uses these coming-of-age topics to bolster a decent female lead who copes with adversity in admirable ways, even if some of her circumstances are a little far-fetched and the plot fairly mundane. Go to Full Review
Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette 09/30/2014
This half-hour series, which is only mildly funny on occasion ... doesn't have much new to offer beyond its fairly unique setting and an end-of-premiere reveal that producers already suggested turns out to be a red herring. Go to Full Review
