Lance J @Lajlmt Jun 19 Yikes! It really should take this off. It’s an embarrassment. The windows definitely was a great idea, but the whole design and color scheme.Ugh! See more Brian C @RT41230040 02/11/2025 This show is awful. It’s a horrible representation of Hawaii. It highlights rich white family, which is negative number one. Then the main designer, though from Hawaii, seems completely white washed (negative number two). Then the designer is horrible. This is the new modern Hawaii look. No ma’am it is NOT. This show is Chip and Joanna’s idea of what Hawaii is. Don’t waste your time… See more Al R @RT26725132 08/02/2024 My apologies to the owners of this beautiful home because it was destroyed by this design. First, the designer told the owners that the floor tile had color going all the way through and the tile was clearly just cheaply painted over (they even put the evidence of it on the video). The owner would have noticed the cheap tile anyway because the floor looked attrocious! I know it is a long way to Hawaii but Hint,Hint, Hint, for the designer , a quality marerial doesn’t break that easily that is why they call it “QUALITY MATERIAL” Second, the color design was tacky it did not match your house or the exterior. Putting wallpaper up in such a beautiful space is (insane asylum) baaaaad!!! I get that the designer wanted to highlight the Island of Hawaii by telling a story but a plant in the house would have been better than the disaster that was the end result. The designer was trying to tell a story but she is a terrible storyteller too!!! OMG! The finished product almost brought tears to my eyes( seriously though I felt so bad that the owners had to endure that) Finally, a message to the designer, the most successful design shows put the OWNER as the center of attention and they tell the story almost like garnish in the background. Sure you have to promote yourself too but you do it in small snippets throughout an entire career not all in one show. The owner is the one that lives there so a designers personal preferance is irrelevant. There is no better example of how bad this show was than the ending when the designer and her family were prominently desplayed and the owners were almost non existant. Now, I understand that the designer and the owners are friends but Wow!!!!! You don’t design a house for a person and have the end of the show be all about anything but the owners. I mean who the heck dished out all that money for the design and work? The Owners did!!! But I could definitely understand if they did not want to be a part of the end of that show since they were probably sitting in a corner crying or calling their attorney to start litigation(joke). It does not surprise me that there was only one episode to this show but I would not put it under design. I would put it under horror show. See more Jennifer F @RT60414893 06/06/2024 My mouth dropped in the worst way when I saw that reveal for this poor home. This essentially looks like a child designed this home. There is no elevation to the space and no experience behind the design. That wallpaper and the colors were jarring. For example, you can have a little bit of Boho in a room, but to make it a focal point in a gallery wall that looks like that in the main space is absolutely insane. I honestly preferred the before and I don't think I have ever felt that way watching a show or seeing homes IRL. I'm not sure where you found this designer but there are some good ones in Hawaii That know how to elevate a space. See more Sean R @RT71302553 05/05/2024 I’m at 2.5 stars for the first episode. I give 3 episodes for any new series, for the cast to find their groove and to get the kinks out. That being said, OMG, what was Shaolin thinking?! My biggest gripe was the hideous wall paper, then the pink. The only thing I liked about the coffee table was the size of the top. The balls can go and so can the paint job. Losing the beams in the kitchen was a loss. I love the widows to let more light in, but I would like to have a more open floor plan. This looked like a low budget remodel, so I am guessing there was a spending limit to adhere to….at least that is what I’m hoping. The master says: “…your Shaolin style was to weak for this opponent. You lose!” I do not want to lose a show in Hawaii, so let’s put on your designer hat and show us what you can do! See more Kristina G @RT07054282 01/21/2024 This show is so disappointing. The first episode featured a design that was down right UGLY. I have never observed a new design that is more out of date than the original design. It was all over the place and brought in the worst parts of the 80s, art deco, country, bohemian, plastic barbie dreamhouse, etc. The design was immature and cheap looking as though a small child created it and they gained access to their parents Amazon account to purchase all of the furniture and decor. You are in Hawaii and you would never know. How did this make it on an actual show that aired. Terrible and so sad that a home with such potential and beautiful view was destroyed. This by far is the worst design show I have ever laid eyes upon so much so that I was compelled to leave a review which is very rare for me to do. See more Read all reviews
