All people have to do is power up their TVs, set aside their sensitivities and tune in.

Humans has a lot of relationship drama and poignant melancholy, which doesn't block the show from engaging with some classic SF themes.

Arguably more compelling when it is raising questions than answering them, this is still one of the freshest British dramas in years.

[An] intriguing, erratic serial that trod the narrow line between the compelling and the silly.

The exploration of artificial intelligence is interesting enough, but the moral and ethical problems raised are even more fascinating.

An impressively fleshed-out show, joining the ranks of other robo-oriented substantive dramas.

It's a series that covers familiar ground for sci-fi fans, but it's presented in a new way, with the added bonus of William Hurt.

The cast is strong, there's no weak link dragging down the acting talent. And, most importantly, despite its slightly worn concept, the idea still feels intriguing.

It's an interesting concept -- as evidenced by the wealth of material already out there -- but for the most part the stories the writers choose to tell are expected.

What stays with us about Humans, though, are the reminders of all the little ways things will change once we hand part of our lives over to robots.

Like most good sci-fi, Humans makes sure that the philosophizing doesn't get in the way of the suspense and chills. Anyone who doesn't enjoy those might be a Synth.

There was much good human acting and creepy robot acting. It was great fun seeing grand old ham William Hurt as a solitary codger desperate not to surrender the unreliable robot that stored all his fading memories.

There's nothing here that Blade Runner; I, Robot; Black Mirror; and many more haven't done before and done better.

Humans... goes straight-up robots and offers a surprisingly nuanced look at the old worry that artificial intelligence will eventually outstrip human consciousness.

Pretty much any time an Other is treated as less than human in science-fiction, we're primed to root for the Other and to pat ourselves on the back for our empathy. What Humans does better than anything I can think of is present the other side.

You'll know the basic beats the plot is going to hit, but there's a certain pleasure to watching a formula play out, and Humans contains some interesting twists here and there.

In spite of revisiting familiar territory, Humans could be more engaging if it had a greater sense of urgency. As it is, the show is, you should pardon the expression, just a tad too robotic.

June 26, 2015
A charming, exciting, and impeccably written sci-fi drama for grown-up.
June 26, 2015
The best plotline in the show... might be the one involving George Millican, an aging scientist beautifully played by William Hurt.

Humans, AMC's compelling new drama series, is a near-future story that also nudges the present tense carefully and effectively into the realm of nightmare.
