What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though it does little to diferentiate itself in the crowded world of true-crime, Killing Fields draws the story out just long enough to create necessary suspense while respecting those at the center of its compelling mystery.

Many viewers, maybe millions of viewers, will watch Rodie and fervently hope that he does find his man. They won't be able to help themselves. Go to Full Review

This is the kind of story that builds over time, so it's difficult to tell - Discovery made only one episode available - whether the rest of the series will stay as compelling as the pilot. But it's a doozy of an episode. Go to Full Review

Killing Fields is doing what so many other shows in the last ten years seem to be doing, and to its severe detriment: taking a compelling idea and turning it into another damn cop show. Go to Full Review

Killing Fields, too, has tried, but it has not yet succeeded. But like the investigation, it will continue. Go to Full Review

pete w @Pete-W 12/16/2021 I suspect the entire reason for Season 1 was to supplement detective's Rhodes "Rodie" Sanchez' retirement fund. Slow, scripted, no resolutions. Dragged out what should have been a one-hour TV movie into 301 minutes. Completely unimpressed. See more 01/11/2018 I LOVE this show! Rodie reminds me of Lenny from L&O, the "seen it all" older detective. His younger partner Aubrey is a good guy & they work together trying to solve the murder of a young woman in Louisiana. The case moves along pretty quickly & the prime suspect pretty much should be wearing an "I did it shirt" when he shows up to be questioned. If you like "true crime" shows, you'll really like this show! See more 02/27/2017 LOVE this show!!! Finally, a TRUE crime series shot in real time! See more 02/09/2016 Tiresome, repetitive, slow moving. The show wants you to be intrigued by the cajun cop and his 6 marriages, but he's not even a caricature. Just a boring alcoholic who's full of himself. The victim herself is largely forgotten except for the fact that people seem to like repeating her name. It's cajun, get it? See more 01/19/2016 Couldn't make it through 20 minutes of this god awful show, the main protagonist is a cop you want to wipe off the bottom of your shoe, and he's supposed to be the hero/good guy. 78%? Those people must have gotten a junket to New Orleans with hookers & coke to rate this like that. See more 01/07/2016 Scripted, Scripted, Scripted. This show was billed as real time drama, no scripts. I was really excited to see this, and was extremely disappointed to see the Scripted scenes. The acting is really bad too, yet another disappointing scripted "reality show". This show had alot of promise too. See more Read all reviews
