"Dracula" meets "The Godfather" in this complicated but short-lived supernatural drama, in which San Francisco Police Detective Frank Kohanek makes an unsettling discovery: His city is home to a horde of vampires divided into moblike clans. What Frank doesn't realize is that he is under the protection of Julian Luna, the prince of the San Francisco vampire society and head of the Ventrue clan. While Julian tries to maintain peace among the clans, he faces a bitter challenge from Eddie, leader of the warlike Brujah. Julian faces different pressures from newspaper reporter Caitlin Byrne, who threatens to expose the vampires. Others in Julian's netherworld society include Daedalus, head of the violent Nosferatu, and Lillie, leader of the arts-loving Torreadors.

Slick and stupid, with character motivations and plotting more appropriate to some other planet than Earth. Go to Full Review

It's updating of vampire lore is just a little too drastic. Go to Full Review

Shallow and vapid and fascinating at the same time. As a new incarnation for glitzy nighttime soap, it's brilliant. Go to Full Review

Windy Lynn W @RT32443488 05/02/2023 I have the series on vcr tapes. I love it. Hard to believe it's been over 25 yrs. Reminds me of an Anne Rice novel with a actors who have been all over the place in mostly straight to tape B movies, but you gotta love 'em. Romance, blood, vampires, clans, action, cops. It's all there. If you can handle the 1990s style, watch it. The show is fun. Too bad the lead died, in real life. He surely had swag. No season 2 because of it. See more Earl S @RT64906343 12/14/2022 Cool idea. Could have used more writing effort. See more 04/28/2021 It was awfully bad when it was released, it's impossible to rewatch now except to get a good laugh. Maybe not even then... See more andrew k @RT40967692 03/28/2013 I enjoyed it when it was on, but it does not hold up all these years later. Plus, I swear to god that Sasha woman says the she's Brujah every time she speaks. 🙄 See more 08/02/2011 This was a very sexy Vampire Series in the mid 1990's with Kelly Rutherford as a Journalist in Love with a Beautiful Vampire.Done more sophisticated than most Vampire Series or Movies, with lots of Lovely To Look at Vamps to go around, & some interesting Vampire Clan Lore, & differences in Types of Vampires that I found interesting. It made a return appearance for a few months on the SciFi Channel last year, which is where I became spellbound to it. See more 07/17/2010 vampire 90210 loved this show and such a shame i didnt last becuase the guy that played the prince died in real life from a bike acceneint. This show had so much promice but the acting could be a little better but for it being low bugeted it really wasnt bad. See more Read all reviews
