I was cackling like mad through most of the program.

Except for the canned laughter and tendency toward crude humor, it's mostly quite winning, crowned as it is by the pithy observations of the same announcer as the British show, Tom Baker.

It's crude, it's crass, it's outrageous, but if that's your thing, Little Britain USA should be a welcome addition to your Sunday night viewing.

The setting has changed to the United States and the title expanded to reflect that, but the core of the show is still Matt Lucas and David Walliams working hard for remarkably cheap laughs.

Oddly enough, it works. If you like the raw comedy of Little Britain, you'll find it here.

Replicated the unsettling black-comedy tone of the original show, with none of the heart.

There's bad taste and outrageousness galore, and even more laughs.

Little Britain USA does a nice job of balancing new material for old fans and recycling popular characters to hook newbies.

Some new comedies try to be as outré, but none of them are as clever. Forbidden territory in our society keeps shrinking. Sometimes, it's wiser to let the land lie fallow.
September 11, 2019
Many of the skits just don't work As the British version did, Little Britain USA often relies on predictable potty humor or takes on blindingly obvious targets (Americans like guns! Americans are fat!) with ineffective results.

There are a few new inventions for the HBO series, some good... but again, they're repeated until the chewing gum loses its flavor.
September 11, 2019
Though there's some shock value humor in how awful or disgusting the characters look and act, the concept and the characters start to wear thin within an episode or two.

Walliams and Lucas certainly owe a debt to Hill and Monty Python, but their impulses invariably drift below the (freely exposed) belt, going for the easiest possible gag.
September 11, 2019
Some of it is actually funny, but you pay for every laugh with two groans and a shudder.
September 11, 2019
Watching comedy shouldn't also invoke a paralyzing fear of being disgusted.
September 11, 2019
Little Britain goofs on common folk and reserves its lashes for snobs.
September 11, 2019
Little Britain should, nonetheless, attract a small but devoted following, including particularly those who once relished watching Tracey Ullman's "TraceyTakes On..."
September 11, 2019
It's to Little Britain USA's credit that the U.K. sketch show retained most of creator/stars Matt Lucas and David Walliams' wicked genius in its move to the U.S.

If you don't like comedy that pushes the boundaries of good taste, you have no business here. But the material is presented with enough comic skill, cultural resonance, and clever mockery to rise above.
September 11, 2019
The easily offended should steer clear, but viewers with an appreciation for outrageous humor are likely to have a good laugh.
