Writer Aaron Mahnke launched his podcast "Lore" in 2015 and it has gained critical acclaim in the time since, including earning Best of 2015 honors from iTunes. The audio program is now becoming a TV series as an anthology that, like the podcast, uncovers real-life events that spawned people's darkest nightmares. Taking advantage of its ability to showcase visuals, the series blends animation in with the storytelling and narration. "Lore" has a strong horror pedigree, with some of its executive producers coming from other horror fare, including "The Walking Dead."

Sadly, this second season is dramatisation-only, which renders it an unconvincing horror anthology devoid of real factual interest. Go to Full Review

Agnieszka K 09/03/2024 Season 1 was do good, and season 2 is huge disappointment. What happened to original format and great author comments on history? This became just a poorly acted tv drama... See more Suzie M 07/02/2024 If you don't have enough content to fill out an hour, make it a half hour show. The stories in Season 2 were painfully slow, repetitive and largely boring. Season 1 was an interesting docudrama that examined actual pieces of folklore, but Season 2 was largely made up with some piece of folklore loosely related. And in Season 2 it all came across as just an excuse for a gore fest or torture porn. See more Johnathon W @Hoppynsc 05/24/2023 Disappointing second season that ditches the documentary narrative for dramatic renditions, resulting in a less substantive viewing. The acting remains excellent and the recreations powerful, the the loss of the narration from the first season takes away from its original impact. It feels more like a play over a telling of true events and thus loses its punch. Nevertheless, at just six episodes, an easy binge. See more 02/15/2021 Lame and uninterested. I miss the narrator and illustrations. See more 09/10/2020 I enjoy the new format, I personally find it more interesting and entertaining than the first season. I did like Season 1, but for me, the second season feels more like a horror anthology. See more 03/05/2020 A TRAVESTY! Why change everything from season one? TERRIBLE move, and extremely sad.
